What's For Dinner? Sunday June 14 -- Saturday June 20 2026

My regular store had "Large rotisserie chickens" for sale. I love a rotiss chicken every once in awhile and I often wish I had more.

Sheesh! I'll be eating this monster forever! Good thing it's absolutely delicious - so tender and juicy!

My regular store had the small strip steaks on sale (BOGO) that Kathy and I like so we got a few to grill on this lovely evening.

Kathy used to make carrot and onion packets on the grill for her and her mother. They liked the bottoms of the vegs burned. Kathy said I nailed it, LOL! They were surprisingly delicious!

The steak was medium, and I can only eat a small amount of steak anyway. Might slice up the leftover for a cheesesteak sandwich or salad next week.

My garden parsley chimichurri hit the spot!

Looks perfect. I need to do that soon. My coronary arteries say no.

Today will be a leftover of an Italian hoagi from yesterday for lunch. As far as supper; it will be probably something cooked on the grill outside. The only challenge will be the wind. Sometime, the wind prevents the grill from getting as hot as I would like.

Jimmy, are you usually the grill cook?

Tomato salad. Lots of fresh basil, fresh garlic. Also salt, ground peppercorns, olive oil. No vinegar. Semolina Italian bread to dip (not pictured).

I like the loose bunches of basil or the clamshell. They have nice big mature leaves that are packed with basil flavor. Those plants with the roots they sell in some produce departments have puny tiny leaves with no flavor.

I love that salad peeps. I had mine for lunch, and now it will be set on the table for supper.
I eliminate the basil, and use oregano because Tina is allergic to basil. ( Americani ). I also use a little Wine Vinegar only, and a sprinkle of sugar. Ever so little bit so it gets rid of the vinegar.
And I do use a pinch of Kosher salt; even though I'm not supposed to use it. ( sodium )
The cardiologist allowed me to use salt in the macaroni water. He's Italiano,
so go figure. LOL. When I make meatballs, I have to add basil for mine, and for Tina Made separate. Oregano only.
