What's For Dinner? Sunday August 2 - Saturday 8 2026

We’re going to have some kind of chicken……🤔

Out of The Magic of Tinned Fish, we had Calamarata Pasta with Squid in Its Own Ink. I actually had the correct ingredients for the recipe in this attempt, which made for a huge difference.

The recipe is good but rich. It might have made a better side dish or a smaller serving paired with a Village salad.

Had a most delicious burger, grilled, ever. Well, second best anyhow. The best was when we were at Hackensack Hospital, NJ waiting for DIL's stem cell operation . That was like 18 years ago.
Tina doesn't salt the burgers, but I feel that salt makes the beef more flavorful.
Dessert is a lemon Rita's ice.
Have you ever had Hackensack Pastry Shop cannoli's or their lemon ice? I grew up in Hackensack and was a candy stripper at Hackensack Hospital when it was only a 2 block long 2-story building. Loved eating in the cafeteria, such good food back then. Now it has a new name and took over so much of that area. :(

I lived a short walking distance from White Manna. Friends and I would get two cheeseburgers and a chocolate milk shake each and have to sit on the ground outside to eat. It was always so busy. :) Was better than White Castle! It's moving. Taking the whole building and moving.

White Manna Hamburgers relocating in Hackensack

Kimberly Redmond//June 30, 2026//

An iconic Bergen County hamburger joint is getting a new address.

After receiving approval from the Hackensack Planning Board, White Manna Hamburgers will relocate its 80-year-old building to a different site about a mile away, Jersey Digs first reported.

Officials gave the project the green light June 10. It calls for the Art Deco-style diner to be lifted, transported and placed on a new foundation before a one-story addition is constructed behind it.

Gonna be another hot and smokey day here. I’m going to make a new recipe for enchiladas this morning while it’s cooler and then stick it in the fridge until ready to bake for dinner.
The wind is out of the west at 2-3 mph and seems to have cleared some smoke here. I plan to stay inside today. Hopefully you will get the westerly winds, as well.
