What's for Dinner, Sunday August 14, 2011?

JoeV

Dough Boy
Not sure yet. I have 12# of pork shoulder that at least half will be turned into mild Italian sausage this morning. Then we need to clean out the small pantry because we got pantry moths from something we bought. Either cereal or sushi rice that I bought at the Asian market. Everything else is in cans or sealed pouches. I hate to throw it all away, but I don't want the bugs either. Then everything needs a vinegar/water bath before returning.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, candied yams and rolls. Pumpkin pie and whipped cream for dessert.

I've got a dozen beautiful blue crabs!!! Spaghetti with crabs. Our neighbours are joining us. They're bringing cheese from the St. James Cheese shoppe!!! I think I'm making waffles and ice cream for dessert.

Sounds like your having a fun filled day Joe.

I love those "clean out the fridge" buffets Leni!

Barb.....I can't wait to see the pics! Thanksgiving in the summer!

Are you making the tacos Sass?

Spaghetti and blue crabs sound wonderful Vera!

I hope you get to feeling better LS!

I made some chicken breast, stuffed with broccoli and cheese and wrapped in bacon. Yellow rice and roasted snap peas with Parmesan cheese were the sides.

I have not been cooking for a while but I did tonight.

Dinner was grilled ribeye steak. This one got a little too charred on this side but it was OK. Potatoes were twice baked with butter, cream, milk, bacon, cheese, salt, pepper and green onion. Salad was fresh tomato, grated carrots and green peppers. The bread was French bread brushed with olive oil and garlic made into a paste with coarse salt, then topped with spinach, tomato, mozzarella and romano cheeses then broiled briefly.

Found some thin sliced steak in the freezer, so I put it in some marinade and made stir fry beef with carrots, celery, onions and broccoli, and a side of vegetable fried rice. We also found some OUTSTANDING local sweet corn yesterday. I'll be going back there this week to get some for the freezer. We did that last year, and it was surte good in the middle of Winter.

And there's even a little left over for that fried rice junky, Embryodad. :readytoeat:

JoeV... Nice Summer plating.
The rice is so nice and puffy! Ummm!!

Everyone's food looks so good! Such a variety of great food!

I had International Night at my house. Italian and Mexican LOL. I had been wanting to make gnocci for that tomato sauce I made a couple days ago and because my kids were coming over to eat, I also made chicken enchiladas with red beans and rice, and cucumber salsa.

Nice Aubrey :D
I might get around to making one of the recipes members suggested for me making Mexican chix soup tomorrow.
That will entail buying more chicken, as I've depleted my chicken today lol

well, thx, lilloie~ ummmm, tacos.
embryodad- yep, it has carrot, cob-corn, spinach a few other veggies- began as soup then i decided to make it into a chili. smushed half the cannelinis to thicken

There are so many luscious dinners pictured here tonight that I could never give the deserved individual accolades to each of you without missing somebody (and besides, it is time for bed!). Sorry! We went to our favorite taco restaurant for dinner tonight with DD and then went to the main plaza downtown and got some fresh hot churros for only three pesos each. Yummy!

JoeV..we had those little moths once before a couple years ago.
DW found it was a box of farina opened and burried in the back of the cabinet.

The Mild Sausage sounds good. I could never figure why they call Mild Italian Sausage..sweet Italian sausage?? LOL
It never tasted sweet to me.

DW likes the Mild...I like the Hot!

When it becomes Sausage Making Time...I usually make it all hot; but not super hot so that others could eat it. Oh! I do stuff a few casings with super hot for myself and my Maria. She says,"Dad...don't cook it next to Mommy's Mild one!" I made that mistake once and just 3 links in the sauce contaminated the sauce and other sausage with Heat that DW could not even touch to her mouth.

I love making sausage. That will be soon when it get colder outside.

I make bulk sausage, mainly because I don't have a sausage stuffer, and most of my recipes call for bulk sausage. When I bought it all from the market, I had a heck of a time finding it in bulk, mostly sold by us in links that I had to split open.

OH MY LORD I WANT SOME OF EVERYTHING .................... NOW!!!! YUMMY!!

We had mini fussili with tomato sauce and salad.
