What are you eating Sunday, 4/19/2026 to Saturday, 4/25/2026?

I think I'm going to make a chicken gyro and salad...although, it may end up being a more "deconstructed" gyro salad...with pita on the side. :ROFLMAO:
Yum! Hit the spot...

We picked up Matt in Seattle this afternoon and he is making us a cod chowder like he used to make on Martha’s Vineyard.
After we picked up Matt he wanted to stop somewhere for a burger and beer and since Jack’s BBQ was on the way we stopped there. Matt got his wagyu burger, Nancy got an order of beef bacon and I got French fries topped with queso and chopped beef bacon. It was all good.

Matt’s cod chowder was good albeit a bit bland. It needed bacon or salt pork… on the way home we drove on to Lakewood and Hess’s Bakery and got Brochen, pretzel rolls, and a dessert bread similar to Nancy’s Christmas loaf.

I've got some NY strip pieces from some t-bones I bought Friday that are in marinade in an airtight pyrex bowl in the back of my fridge where it's very cold (water bottles partially freeze there). I'll sautee some peppers, onions, and mushrooms and sear the steak pieces, fold in some cheese, and we'll have steak sliders with potato chips and onion dip.
Sloppy plating but tasted great!

Our last day of moving is tomorrow by noon.
Buzz and I have been working tirelessly for the past 5 days moving things slowly but surely to the new house. Today we got the rest of the heavy things moved. We both are so sore and tired!
Tonight we went to our town's first Applebee's that opened up in February.
I had the Bourbon Street seasoned chicken and shrimp with sauteed onions and mushrooms with a side of broccoli and a 9 oz glass of Merlot. The only meal I have had today lol. It was DELICIOUS. 🥰

I saw beef bacon for the first time last week. Had a package in my hand, but put it back. How would you review it compared to pork bacon, John? Is it worth it?

Lee

P.S. Those fries look sinful!

I can’t say. This place does their beef bacon in a smoker. Matt had beef bacon from a local meat market in Utah and didn’t like it. Jack’s is the only one I’ve had.

Last night’s dinner salade with chicken was lettuce, cut up Costco chicken bits, creamy cucumber dill dressing, and Parmesan cheese.

I finally finished another round of leftovers last night and was pondering what easy thing I can have for dinner tonight. Your delicious-looking salad reminded me of rotiss chicken, which I haven't had in a long time.

Thanks for the inspiration, John!
