What are you doing today?

I have the day off ( that's when I stay home and work harder than if I went to work), got a bunch of outside things done early. I'm going cook some things this morning because of the extreme heat here later in the days. I'll make some seasoned meat for tacos, breaded chicken strips, and some mini meatloaves. I'll also make chicken pasta salad and deviled eggs. Later I'll trim my dog's nails and vacuum. Just tons of fun around here !!

I don't work until tomorrow night, then Saturday as well.
I'll be doing a bit of grocery shopping later, after I get my first walk in

Still not finding many good mushrooms yet, but I'm hoping that the recent rain will encourage them. I did find a big old bolete which I sliced up and am drying. And I found a beautiful young Chicken of the Woods - I took a third of it. Just cut it up and fried in butter, ready for scrambled eggs this weekend.

I found cabbages at a farm store for $3 per head. They were huge, so I bought want and shredded it to start fermenting some sauerkraut.

I never had luck doing that.

I can make sauerkraut, but never had luck fermenting other veggies....like pickles. I simply have to can them with vinegar and spices. Sugar for sweet pickles. 14 day pickles is the closest I get.

We are back from trip to fabric shop in Centralia. Bad traffic due to felon running from law and crashed on I-5. Watching replay of last day of sumo basho.

We did!
It hasn't stopped raining since, so that kinda ruined some plans.
I decided to leave early this morning before any of the roads were washed out.

Had to work. Cleaned an office building I clean every Sunday. Then I had a clean up job in a house that's getting a bunch of remodeling. Home now and going to take a nap!!

We nurses received a request for coverage tonight - "urgent shift".
Guess who declined it?
I've been working more than usual these past few weeks, almost like I'm part time instead of prn.
Wednesday afternoon and Saturday night will be soon enough.
BTW, our census took a leap.
We're at nearly 70 now.
We've not had those numbers since before covid.

Sometimes you have to say no @Sass Muffin ! Sometimes feeling human and taking care of yourself needs to be first. I'm off today, doing a zillion things around the place. I'll also get in the kitchen this morning and cook stuff for the upcoming hot week.
