What are you doing today?

Yesterday was a beautiful early Spring day. I took Lynne for a mystery ride to a field in Lincoln, MA to see Ponyhenge. She was delighted!

I have a pulmonary appointment at 1030 then will come home, finish packing and hope to be on the road to Utah with an overnight in Pendleton tonight. We’ll go via Portland since snow is predicted on the passes through the Cascades. The Columbia River drive is scenic and usually traffic isn’t as bad. We’ll see. No hurry….

Happy and safe trails!

Hope it works out for both of you, Lora!

Lee
It will 😉
I called our former neighbour, Pat.
I explained the situation and told her, 'you might want to come to town and visit Rose soon'.
She's on home and hospice care now.
I'm not saying it's end of life care, but it's certainly/possibly? going in that direction.
She's a much loved woman and a respected citizen in this community.
Time will tell.

We went to Seattle to visit JA. He seems to be doing better, back working full time so visit was short and on his lunch hour. Shrink said he has graduated, met a widow at a widows group, and is back doing his actives like book club, tai chi, and D&D.

That's wonderful, John!
A lot of people do not understand what it's like to lose a spouse.
I sure remember how long it took me after Steve passed away.
Almost 3 years, even after I decided to move back to the States because everyone demanded I did.

My TLC time with Rose was very different from yesterday.
She's on our front wing.
Last evening she "rallied" once her family members were there.

Today, it's a whole other thing.
I've never known a patient to go down as fast as she is.
Our in-house doctor told her family a week.
Nope he's rarely there.
I spoke with the other nurses and CNAs.
We're all in agreement 24- 48 hrs.

Thank you, Peeps.
I'm okay today.
Yesterday not so much.
Now that I am out of the HIPAA violation area since she's gone, I can tell you this.

She was in stage 4 renal failure and had a huge septic wound on her bottom.
She went fast.
For that we are all grateful.
It makes me sad that she NEVER allowed anyone to know exactly how this all occurred to the point of it being so bad.

Then again, she was a strong and giving woman and put others before herself.

April, Leo and I took a lonnnggg walk today.
Lots of heart cleansing tears, memories shared and love for her among the beautiful park trees and this beautiful sunny day.

It's beautiful that you care so much for your residents, Lora!

Absolutely I do.
Before she was my resident, she was my land lady and neighbour.
When I applied to live in our apartments all those years ago, I met with her in the business office.
I didn't even have to go through a background check.
10 minutes after speaking with her, she said 'I like you, you're a nurse, your job is next door, welcome home'.
❤️

What am I doing today (Friday 24th) what I am planning and what I actually get to do can some times be two completelt different things; however, my plans are as follows:

Hope I wake up in the morning - that'd be a good start :)
Put a new battery in my bike and take her for a run ...
Finish mowing my FIL's yard
Put my Rogues battery on charge (having a bttery melt down at the moment)
Go and buy a few bags of wood pellets for our stove (just in case)
Then after breakfast say to hell with it all and go back to bed :)
After which a Fish Fry at Marino's (my local watering hole) tonight.

What will most actually happen will be:

Battery in the bike
Charge the Rogue battery
Get pellets
Go out for dinner

Have to leave something to do for tomorrow :D :D :D

It's a nice - cooler, cloudy day and looks to stay that way.
I'll be taking my morning walk shortly.

Rose will be having a private service, which does not surprise me at all.
Her obit is simple without much of anything mentioned.
April and I signed the memory book and donated a tree vs buying floral arrangements.
