I found them in my mother's house, and have an idea of what each is, but I need confirmation.

The one on the left appears to be a potato.......or some kind of......peeler.
Would the one on the right be for coring apples, tomatoes or some such?

The one on the left looks like a screw driver and the one on the right looks like a boat propeller.

Or, FM, maybe some sort of pseudo Masochistic...........oh never mind. You'd have said so if they were!

Here's a larding needle and it looks similar:

The left looks like a tool for closing up a chicken, turkey etc when stuffing that would be my guess. The other is a clam shucker or oyster though oyster have a longer blade thinner blade. The short heavy ones are for clams.

Terry (FM) I believe you are correct on both counts.

The link you provided for oyster shuckers showed a knife on the far left that's exactly like the one I have. The description of "A Frenchman" said that the blade would be stamped with "Inox", which mine is. And a couple of other French words.

The larding needle is stamped with "Made in USA" and "Susan Bales". Can't find anything on it, and I'm not sure how to use it. The eye is very small.

Thanks for playing, everyone!

Oh wait - I think the needle is a needlepunch tool for making rugs. The name gave it away:

It was the name stamped on the tool - Susan Bates is the most common brand of knitting needles, crochet hooks, and rug hooks. But it looks amazingly like a larding needle, too!

Oh yes, of course. Susan Bates from the Bates Hotel family. Vera?? Help!

Me, too. They are still brilliant films. Remember the movie Marnie?

Barely. It was quite complicated. I like simple things that stick in my memory, like the shrill herk herk HERK sound during the Psycho shower knifing. To the day I die that sound will be as familiar to me as a train whistle or church bells...

I didn't take showers for many, many years after I first saw that movie - only baths so I could see the bathroom door! I'll bet I'm not the only one, either.

"You can cook a Thanksgiving turkey with it, and at the same time finish that welcome mat for Christmas!"
