What a storm...

We had a severe rain wind storm over night. No power. Town is a mess. I had to shower at work. Basement is flooded. All I need is a tin man and a lion, because I saw the scarecrow when the DW got up. What a mess.

It started out yesterday and last night as a "Slop Storm" 50 / 50 mix of snow and water. Broke the belt on the snow blower trying to clear that.

I woke up this AM to about 8 inches of fresh snow. I normally take a bus to my train, so, I looked at NJ transit's website and they cheerfully informed me that "All buss service si suspended until further notice" So much for work today.

I waited till 6:00 Am and went to the hardware store to get the belt that I needed for the snow blower. I put that on and spent close to 2 hours blowing snow. I have about another inch since I started and maybe 6 more coming today. Not really a big deal, except for breaking the blower. That was just a pain in the butt.

This too will pass. The first full workout in Port St. Lucie is at hand. The boys of summer will come north soon.

i drove circles around people getting in to work last night at 11pm. almost literally! now i'm stuck here 'till 4pm. and only then will i get to go home and shovel.

i just don't understand why people in tiny, 2 wheel drive cars try to get around in this much snow. there was someone stuck on just about every inclined roadway last night, which are usually the on-ramps for highways and bridges/tunnels. one car gets stuck there, then everyone else can't make it past as they spin their tires, turning sideways as they slip backwards. i had to detour 4 or 5 times last night to try to get around the buttheads. :bonk: i wonder if they know the damage that they're doing to their transmissions by gunning it in forward and reverse so fast?

In case you might be interested. Here is our snowfall so far (2 pix). The last pic is my faithful truck that sees that I get where I want to go.

Glad to hear you are all okay! Lefty, you poor guy!

We just got pelting rain and high winds (so far), but didn't lose power (yet).

The sun has been out most of the morning, but I hear we are in for more over the next several days.

Holy cow, Andy! That's a lot of snow! It makes me want to come up there and make snow angels in your yard.

Seriously - I'm glad y'all appear to be safe and sound after that monster of a storm.

lol, something tells me that andy has already used up every inch of his yard making angels already...

that's a montrous truck, andy! you could park anywhere in this stuff with it, i'll bet.

i had to blast out of my spot on 11th ave. and 61st street last night. the plows pushed a wall of snow that was like wet concrete against my truck right up to the windows. i couldn't even get the door open until i borrowed a shovel from a doorman of the nearby building.
then, when i got home, i had to park on another mound of snow. thank god for 4 wheel drive and manual transmissions! :driving: :snow:

Funny you should say that Bucky. I went to the North Bergen Park & ride and the parking spot that I wanted was where they piled the snow. I parked my truck on top of the snow bank.
I will go anyplace, if I can just go in that truck. LOL It's not all play, it also hauled the 3,300# of stone for the pond and falls. Yup! I like it.
