Re: Wednesday night chow

Is this the dinner thread (no date so I am not sure)? Or a recipe? Or both.

If dinner thread not quite sure yet what's for dinner.

If recipe sounds quick, easy and yummy.

NOPE!! The dinner thread belongs here. You put it in the proper place. I was just unsure. It was me NOT you that was confused.

Your bean dish sounds YUMMY. I love black beans when I go out but I have never made them at home. BTW I am still unsure what to make for dinner BUT I wish I had some beans and cheese at the moment. And salsa and guacamole.

I added the date so there won't be any misunderstanding.

I have no idea what's for dinner tonight. May just be a soup and sandwich kinda night.

WOW! My wife just E-mailed me and said she wanted tomato soup & griled cheese for dinner tonight. Looks like what I was planing on just went out the window.
O-well!

I believe it's going to be dinner out for me tonight. It's the holidays, who has time to stay home and cook? There's SHOPPING to be done. And wifey wants to go to the girls shopping night one of the local pubs is doing. So I'll probably go to a DIFFERENT place and get some chicken wings and beer for dinner. :)

Market had lovely fresh soft-shell "steamer" clams for sale, so bought 4 pounds of them for dinner tonight. Any leftovers will get shelled & frozen in the lovely wine-infused broth I'll be steaming them in to make a lovely clam sauce for spinach linguini in the future.

I have bone in chicken breasts in a pan surrounded by quartered red & yukon potatoes, onion and sliced mushroom caps. Seasoned with my AP seasoning blend, rosemary, thyme and rubbed sage. It smells wonderful in here. Steamed fresh broccoli & carrots and gravy round out the meal.

I made grilled cheese sandwiches on pumpernickel bread along with vegetable beef soup.

i'm not sure if i'd call this dinner 'er a late lunch- i made pasta w/ a pesto cream sauce.
i really was hungry for lamb lollipops, though those were frozen rock solid & cut really thick. they're on the thaw now, along w/ chix, so if i get hungry later on tonite i'll cook again

Everyones dinner looks and sounds wonderful!!

Nan your soup and sandwich look fantastic. I have never made grilled cheese on pumpernickel bread before.

Good lookin meal peeps... Chicken looks well done enough for Jimmy Here to eat some!

DIL brought Chinese Take out over tonight.
I ate Pork Fried Rice...good, and I snorted some hot mustard,...and it gave me Brain Pain. whew..... Thought it would help my sinus swelling; but it only worked for 10 minutes, and now I'm all stuffed up again. Grrrrrrr
Time for another headache pill. Darn it!

Thank you Jimmy.
You are always welcome peep!....

Mom used to make just split 4 ways breasts...bone in, and thighs.
No skin. She tore it off. Put the pieces in a black pan from an old stove broiler pan.
She put oil on top of each..and salt and garlic powder...then Oregano and basil with some paprika... the real red Italian one from Italy. ( I have no Idea Why? ) hahaha

She would bake the pieces... adding a brushing of oil the last 1/2 hour of baking.

It was good, and I ate it like that. A little dry, but we always had spaghetti or some kind of macaroni's and sauce to keep the mouth and throat wet enough to swallow.
God love mom, there were never any leftovers.

I don't know what it was....but mom and any of the family cooks in my family...figured, it's ok to eat a whole pound of sausage, because as they cooked it, and actually any meat....they squeezed and pressed the livin heck out of the food.

I could remember Gram showing me how to pan fry hot sausage, and she would say,"sonny...see..See.See...You Press press press out all the grease with the fork!
that grease is no to good for you; so squeeze it out good.
Then she would even press the heck out of it between brown bag paper.

Now my dad would fry the sausage...and we would eat it (only with mom either visiting someone or at the church)...and we would dunk the bread in the hot grease, and mop it all up. Haaaaaaaa

I try not to do that myself today...but every once in a while... I will dunk and eat that delicious grease. i pay for it later...but gosh darn...it is so good.

Thank you Peep and Jimmy. It was my first time making grilled cheese with pump bread cause that's all I had. Hubby and I both loved it and I'll make it again with the pump bread next time.

Ha Ha Ha ... Nancy... I was wishing for a grilled cheese a couple months ago..and low and behold, there was NO Bread! Yeeeek!

I had onion rolls..so I slit the roll in half. Buttered the insides of each half, and assembled the cheese on the inside with the Tops of the rolls inside now.
Just a inside out roll.

That grilled cheese was Soooo Goood; it was unbelievable.

I also made a few with hamburger rolls ; and again...inside out, and they were good too.

I'm getting hungry again just thinking of grilled cheese. Haaaaaaaa

I cut (shave) the top and bottom off a nice Kaiser roll, and then slice them in half. I make French Toast with them. Awesome. Better than Bread.
