WOW Bam! Looks great! Beautiful picture!

yah the guy who made the food and took the picture has some talent...this is his first entry into the competition...he has some mad skills..lol

he set the bar realllllllllllllllllly high..lol

It's a very good picture, I'll give him that but you've made some pulled pork, chicken and a few other things that you have posted here that would blow that away!

thank you very much...i just need to play with my camera for this time around..lol

Make a Gyro Bam! You'll need some lamb, then grind it up and make a loaf, smoke it, then make a yogurt sauce and grab some Pita bread. You can take this guy!

I agree with Mama and Keltin, Bam - you've got it all over this guy!

I think it was Jeeks (High Cheese) who talked about using that little tulip thingie setting on the camera. I started using it and it made a world of difference in my pics. See if your camera has one.

The tulip thingie on mine is for a Zoom Macro. But my camera is older. Not sure what that option does on other cameras?

I don't know what a Zoom Macro is, but the tulip thingy on my camera allows me to take close-ups that are in focus and not washed out by the flash.

It's definitely for close ups! But if I'm reading my manual right, mine only triggers when you activate Zoom (zoom in) and not for just regular zoom shots. It's part of the digital zoom mechanism the Camera (Sony Cybershot) uses.

Mine works for closeups whether I use the zoom or not. I couldn't for the life of me take a clear closeup picture before Jeeks told me about it.

Just checked my manual again.

For close-ups of small subjects like flowers or insects, shoot using the macro feature. You can use this feature for close-ups of subjects up to distances specified below.

When the zoom is set all the way to the W side: 10 cm (4 inches) from the end of the lens.

When the zoom is set all the way o the T side: 50 cm (19 3/4 inches) from the end of the lens.

So, I stand corrected. It appears even my camera uses the tulip thingy for sharpening close-ups. Guess I’ll be turning that back on after all!!

Thanks guys!

If this is your camera Bam, it's on the big round button to the left of where it says "FUNC SET"

You use the vase/flower icon.

Edit: I think on that camera you use the flowers on top, then press the tulip on the back. You should then see a little tulip icon on the corner of the screen. Now you can take close-ups. Press the tulip button again to turn it off. I think my Moms cam is like that one. If you dont like how they come out with the setting on the top "wheel" just try another setting. I found food pics come out best with no flash.

thanks everyone..tomorrow is my day of cooking so i need to come up with an idea.. i really like the idea of gyro by Keltin..

i am looking for more suggestions...help????...lol

You could do Chicken Adobo on the grill.

Use Chowhounds method of Wings on the grill to poach the chicken, then finish it on the grill for a crispy skin. You could also cook the rice on the grill in a pot.

Add some sautéed green, yellow, and red bell peppers for color to the rice, and the pic should be good.

both of those look great... i was just actually looking at your adobo chicken before you posted it..lol

i am still leaning towards your gyro idea... that really sounds like a winner...if i dont use the Q'er, i could use my rotissiere on my grill(have only used it one other time..lol)

hmmmm too late at night to be think..:yum:

Personally, I'd LOVE to go the Gyro route as well! Those are wonderful, and all the toppings add color for the pic. Plus it looks great to grab a pic slicing the meat off the lamb loaf. It sounds awesome! Alton Brown did an episode showing how to make the lamb loaf for a rotissiere, and it's not hard. Some netting helps, but not required.
