Veg for Thanksgiving

We started our thanksgiving prep and have the veg done for dressing.
The celery is locally grown but Sterino’s in the Puyallup valley. I’ve never
seen celery so big. Everything was used To include the celery tops and
onion ends and outer white trimmings. Tomorrow we will chop up the onion
and put them on the hob to blanch. The veg is in the freezer… Sometime this weekend we will drive
to Westport to buy local cranberries. We got a call from Brady’s the cran
are in. She thinks she’s up for a drive now.

My eyes are watering just looking at all those onions Nancy has in front of her!

She had me finish up. These onions were WA grown and not to bad. I’ll chop them up tomorrow and then will be boiled a bit and frozen.

I’m cutting them up right now… I feel a little sting to the eyes but, so far, not bad. I chopped up all her ripe tomatoes and have them on the hob. I’ll make a marinara with them.

I’ll put this here… we went to the cranberry farm which was interesting. They had a deal where you could pick your own for $.75# but no way we could do that. We bought four gallons. They had an honor box to put the money in. One could never do that in our area.

I have no clue what the big piles were about. That’s a lot of berries to go to waste. There is an Ocean Spray facility but it is up by Westport about forty miles away.

they also have huge blueberry fields and will look into going to pick our own next September.
