Sure. There's a consignment shop in a high-income neighborhood near where I work. I've bought a lot of clothes there. When we first bought our house, I went yard-saling regularly. After 18 years, we don't really need more stuff now

you can find some really valuable/unique stuff at yard/garage sales for very little money. i found a kitchen chair and a large plate. sometimes there are really nice kitchen stuff found like old one of a kind and cast iron for examples. so sometimes i stop if something catches my eye as i pass and there is parking i will stop.

I'm headed out rummage saling in a few minutes, as a matter of fact. I peruse the paper to see which ones have tools, etc. on 'em. I've bought quite a few quality, though well used tools, on sales for a reasonable price.
I checked the yard sales, estate sales, and "other", under which catagory I'm thinking auction sales.

Believe it or not, when we renovated our kitchen the first time in 1993, I found our kitchen sink at a yard sale!

I buy clothes all the time at consignment stores and love estate sales. I tend to get "paddle happy" at auctions, so I no longer go to those but used to hit the antique auctions all the time.

Ooooh - I love used stuff! (Sometimes you can fudge and call them antiques or "vintage". LOL) Looks like y'all love used stuff, too. So what's you latest favorite find?

Mine is an ottoman I found a couple of months ago at a little shop for $40. As I was loading it into my car, I noticed a brass plate on the bottom. I Googled the name and actually found the ottoman. It was made by a custom furniture maker and that ottoman starts at $1980.00, depending upon your choice of covering!

It's been awhile, but one of my faves was an Ionic Breeze for about $20. I like going through the old books, cookbooks etc & jewelry; but just don't have the space.

We have three of those, and I just love 'em.

My latest find at a consignment shop was a pair of capri pants that still had the tags for $4.99 :punk:.

 I can't imagine anybody paying $1980 for an ottoman......good find, FM!

I've purchased furniture on Craig's List and every once in awhile I'll look in a yard sale just in case there's some tool or piece of art that I just have to have. lol

I buy alot of PV VHS and DVD movies on amazon. also used video games. what about college text books. there is a book store a few towns over that buys and sells used books - hard cover and soft. if you buy a used book when you are done with it so long as it is still in good condition he will buy it back for what you bought it for.

i love rummaging for items!
my recent purchases of rummage items:
-red/biege doc marten bowling-type shoes
-a hee-haw ringer
-socks (unused!! he-he.)
-gazillions of my other items!
-2 great pix of German soldiers
-these cookbooks from well before my arrival
-skillets, etcetera
-the furniture in the entertainment room (great color!)
-bowling ball
-fruit packing crates that double well as stands for my printer & a place for my tablets
wow, i could so continue on. :)
-great reads

antiquing my place if the budget allows. or making the place retro- we've gotten a gist of the retro. the people selling these items seem to be oblivious of thier value. sentiment &/or monitary value.

Always on the lookout for good used stuff! The lone exception may be computer/recording equipment and periphials-its been my experience that a lot of that type of stuff has been a little "too well loved" !! Of course, there are always exceptions.....

I used to LOVE yard sales and flea markets!!

However, after cleaning out two family houses and an apartment this past year, I have an entirely different view of aquiring used stuff. People keep way too much STUFF! Valuables, and sentimental things, okay, but ...... but my family kept every damned thing!

I went to an estate sale once, and left in tears, after I saw a little sign in a child's crayon that said "I love you, Nana". I never went to another estate sale.

Although, I had one myself at my aunt's house today. No one seemed to get teary.

I still might love being out in the great spring or fall weather, pawing through stuff, but only for things I NEED now, not just things that are a good deal or "might be worth money someday."
