if that were so, most knights would have died on the field, exhausted and outmaneuvered
by faster opponents. Authentic battle swords of the era usually weighed less than four
pounds and could be handled quite deftly. Heavy swords we see displayed in museums
are usually "parade" blades, meant for show only.

What about the claymore? It's a two handed sword and looks like it weighs a lot more.

The average claymore ran about 55 inches in overall length, with a 13 inch grip, 42 inch blade, and a weight of 4 - 5.5 lb.
It was somewhat smaller than other two-handed swords of the era.

The Claymore was a Scottish weapon for the most part

Impressive, LT. Obviously, you are both well-read and well educated to have such an incredible command of information at your fingertips. And Leni, too, to even know about the Claymore. Many people wouldn't have known that. I've got to read more!
