TRUTH !!

The Treaty of Paris, signed in 1783, officially ended the American Revolutionary War and recognized the United States as an independent nation. Article 7 said the British should leave without carrying away any property of the Americans, which was supposed to include enslaved people. But when they withdrew, they ignored that obligation and instead they evacuated roughly 3,000 escaped former slaves who had escaped to British lines and been promised freedom, including a man owned by George Washington. Many ended up in Britain or its West Indies colonies. British officers and loyalists who owned enslaved people kept them.
