CRAP !!
If William Francis Kemmler is "famous" at all. It would be because he was the First person executed by electric chair
William Francis Kemmler killed his common-law wife with a hatchet in 1889. On August 6, 1890 he became the first person executed by electric chair at New York's Auburn Prison. The execution did not go well. After being subjected to 700 volts of alternating current for 17 seconds, Kemmler was still alive. So they gave him another dose of 1,030 volts for two minutes, and that did the trick. Not only did Kemmler die, his hair caught on fire, and the electrode attached to his back burned through to his spine.
