TRUTH !!

Table Tennis (or Ping Pong) was developed in England in the late 19th Century. It began when the upper classes decided, as a diversion, to use their dining tables as indoor, miniature tennis courts. In these times, the sport was often referred to as 'wiff-waff,' 'whiff-whaff' or 'flim-flam' - probably in reference to the sound the paddles and balls made. (Very early on, improvised items such as champagne corks and cigar box lids were fashioned into balls and paddles.) It was later called Ping Pong, when it became a trademarked game of Parker Bros in the late 1800s. Because this was a trademarked name, not a generic name, it began being called the more generic name of 'table tennis' in 1921. It is thought the British army introduced the sport into Asia, where it is very popular today.
