TRUTH !!

most people learn the crawl (also known as the freestyle) first after bobbing around with the "doggy paddle". The crawl is accomplished with scissor kicks and alternating arms over arms. The term "crawl' is thought to have become popular in use towards the end of the 19th century after Australian swimmer Dick Cavill described his technique as like crawling through the water.
