TRUTH !!
In 1994, Jennifer Aniston was starring in a new CBS sitcom called "Muddling Through" playing the daughter of a woman who returns to her family on parole after shooting her husband for cheating. So, when Jennifer booked the role of Rachel on NBC's "Friends", she would have had to turn it down if "Muddling Through" became a hit and got picked up for the following season, because she was contractually obligated to stay on. NBC even shot cast promo photos of "Friends" without Jennifer in them, just in case. Strategically NBC counter-programmed a Danielle Steel show that had proven to be very popular with women, in order to pull the audience away from "Muddling Through" so that it would get canceled and free up Jennifer Aniston. It worked.
