TRUTH !!
"Puss Gets the Boot" (1940) was the first cartoon to feature the iconic cat-and-mouse duo later known as Tom and Jerry. In this debut short, however, Tom was originally called Jasper, and Jerry was unnamed, simply referred to as the mouse. The cartoon follows the familiar formula: Jasper attempts to catch the mouse, leading to chaotic chases, slapstick humour, and the inevitable destruction of household items, resulting in trouble with the maid.
