there IS a force called the coriolis effect, which, in short, is what

happens when air flows from high to low pressure under the earth's rotation.

this deflects wind to the right in the north and the left in the south. the

effect is noticeable, however, only for large-scale motions, such as weather

The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed in Sri Lanka, although the story takes place in Thailand. The bridge was built across the Kelani river in Kitulgala village. Those days the people in Kitulgala had no bridge, and had to cross the river by boat, or walk many kms round to a bridge. Therefore the people volunteered to build the bridge without wage. The producers promised the bridge will be left for them after the filming.
Then the last day of filming the bridge was blown in to pieces right before the eyes of the villagers. It is said that the whole village cried that night. You can still see some signs of the bridge. Today Kitulgala is known for white water rafting.
The language the locals speak in the film, which you assume to be Thai, is actually Sinhala language, the main language in Sri Lanka.

Very interesting background on that LMS. :tiphat: Thanks.
Sad that they blew up the bridge after saying it would be left there for them. So wrong.
