TRUTH !!

In 1947, Richard Starkey (later Ringo Starr) was six when he was rushed to the hospital with a ruptured appendix. It quickly spiraled into peritonitis, a life-threatening infection of the abdominal lining. He fell into a coma and remained in the hospital for a full year. At age 13, he contracted tuberculosis, which was a major killer in post-war Britain, and was sent to Heswall Children's Hospital, a sanatorium, where he lived for the next two years. To keep the children occupied and "stimulated," the hospital staff encouraged them to join a hospital band. Ringo was introduced to the drum by one of the health workers and was immediately captivated.
