TRUTH !!
Researchers have theories but are not entirely sure why at some point in evolutionary history both species evolved the stomach out of their digestive systems. Not only that but in the case of the platypus (and its monotreme cousin the echidna) they lost the genetic sequencing to bring the stomach back in "short" time (geologically speaking) and their bodies would have to reinvent them from scratch should conditions ever make stomachs overwhelmingly advantageous for them again. Both the carp and platypus conduct digestion entirely in the intestines.
