The word tradition comes from the Latin traditionem, acc. of traditio which means "handing over, passing on"

Do you have any traditions?

These can be as simple as Sunday drives...

What a cool poll, Lefty!

We have the usual ones like Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, tooth fairy. I'm sure we have other ones, but my mind is a blank right now.

We sure do. :D Boating is a 'tradition' in our family, as well as the family get togethers for all the major holidays. Traditions are usually fun.

Chinese food restaurant on Christmas Day! (Karma to the 1st person who identifies where THAT came from LOL!)

Christmas stockings are always filled with unusual snack foods.

There are lots of little rituals, like how I prep my truck for road trips and such, too!

Where else but "A Christmas Story?" (do you order duck?)

My wife gave me a Christmas Ornament lamp a few years ago!

I thought it was goose that was ordered at the restaurant in the movie?

"Deck the harrs with boughs of horry, fa ra ra ra, ra ra ra."

We really don't have any of our own. I have tried to start our own several times, but we don't keep them going. I will try again to start a new one for just us 3.5 (dog=.5) maybe an end of summer thing.

Kimchee reminded me of one of our holiday traditions.

We always watch "It's A Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart and "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby.

We added "A Christmas Story" to the viewing list a few years ago.

"A Christmas Story" ran over and over on cable last year. We didn't see either of the others listed. Guess they are too old. We have them on dvd so we got to watch them anyway.

Lobster on my birthday, holidays my mooching family shows up to be feed. They also expect gifts if appropriate holiday. My wife and I also have a tradition between us, no gifts, cards, flowers etc for the other on special occasions.

My husband and I are like that, too, Joe. We don't give each other gifts for holidays.

We always buy several bottles of sparkling grape juice for the little kids to toast with on New Year's Eve or other celebrations. They get to use a champagne flute, too.

All of our boys have two middle names cuz we couldn't agree on just one. My son is carrying this on with his new baby, so I guess it's now a tradition.

I have some holidays completely off limits for visits at my house too. Dawn and I decided if we wanted/needed something when we first got married simply go buy it if the money was available. I did buy Dawn a rose once from a street vendor, it was one of the worse nights I've had with her in 46 years. You would of thought she would of liked it, not a chance, jumped on me for spending $2 for a flower.

Doesn't want chocolate or flowers or gifts? Sounds like you married the most wonderful woman in the world! No wonder you're such a happy guy.

yes our family is big on traditions..

every friday night is pizza night..most times it is homemade but if not then its take-out.

in my own household, the kids get to open one gift Christmas Eve.

other than that its all the regular traditions of the holidays
