Todays Lunch

My great friend, Lynne, is visiting me for a couple of weeks. We went shopping for a few things, one of which was a small flight of gourmet cheeses (which were unidentified). We split it for lunch, adding saltines and sopressetta. Delicious and just enough!

Lynne and I went to her sister's restaurant in Rockport, MA - My Place by the Sea. As always, the service was exceptional!

I ordered a strawberry margarita. Had a ton of fresh strawberry pulp and was strong but considerably sweeter than anything I usually drink. I couldn't finish.

Started off with proscuitto, manchego, scallion pizza - I was starving, so I had 2 pieces and loved it. Took a photo of the remaining slice.

Lynne got grilled swordfish with bearnaise sauce and candied pecans. She always gets that - Kathy made it especially for her today, as it wasn't on the menu. Perfect!

I got the tuna/olive salad on ciabatta. Nothing special, TBH - needed more olives and salt. I ate half.

We didn't order it, but they brought out a lemon tart with lemon whipped cream for dessert. Spectacular! I was full of carbs, so just had a bite.

Beautiful day on the water!

Lunch was another cheese spread and ham roll up. I started on my second bottle of dills. I had most of a bottle of Vlasic sliced dills and put them in the brine from my bottle. We’ll see if it changes the flavour. I’d like to make another batch of refrigerator dills but she complained they take up too much room.

I had what might be the best sandwich of my life: Smoked Pork Belly Melt on marble rye! At The Rusty Can in Byfield, MA.

One of my co-workers told me that he'd been to many famous BBQ places around the country, but the Rusty Can had the best bbq he'd ever had. So, Christine and I took a ride up to check it out.

It's a rustic, hole-in-the-wall, with many specials and many beers. We loved it! Service was excellent and the food was fantastic!! Christine had a shredded brisket sandwich and did a great job on it. I ate one half of my big sandwich.

We'll go back!
