And here he is: Kieran Peter Lee

Weighing in at 7 lb. 6 oz. at 2.33 this morning.

It was a long labor and Fallon is just worn out but both Mom and son are doing fine.....beautiful and perfect! Believe me, there's not a feeling in the world like seeing your own child being born. I was absolutely gobsmacked! This kid is going to be either an opera singer or a politician and he's practicing up even as I type this! His grandpa says he's definitely going to be a violinist with those hands. Baseball, says I...................

Ian - one mighty proud Dad! :bounce:

Things got kind of funny at one point in this adventure. Labor seemed to have come to a dead stop and the doctor suggested that Fallon should take a hike - figuratively speaking. I was coming down the hall toward the labor room and saw DW walking toward me with a nurse. I rushed up and asked them where the baby was and who was taking care of him.....couldn't understand for a minute what they both found so funny.
Then my bride suggested that the baby was right under my nose and she was taking care of him!

When they got her back in the labor room the doctor came in and checked things out and said it was about time for me to put on a gown and we were all going into the delivery room to do some work. Fallon was so worried that I'd faint or something equaly stupid but I stood my ground and saw the whole thing happen. Honestly, it's amazing. My wife calmly gave birth to a dead ringer for Winston Churchill! All that boy needed was the trademark cigar! But he's beautiful and has all the proper number of everything, including lots and lots of hair the nurse told me will probably all fall out soon and then his "permanent hair will appear. He even had one tiny tooth - I didn't know they did things like that. He's got a set of lungs like a fire siren, too! And I love that sound. Fallon tells me that if I like it so much I can do all the 2am feedings! And certainly change all the nappies, as well. provided I can get him away from her long enough to do it. We bought a good-sized rocking chair and that's where I'll find those two when I go looking for them. My little baseball player is such a little man. Now I've got to grab a nap and maybe something to eat - all that coffee kept me going but now it's wearing off.

You are the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy. How lucky you are. The adventure you are about to embark on will change your life for the better forever and ever. I'm so happy for you both.

Beautiful baby. Congratulations. And would you believe that he was born on my sisters birthday?

Congratulations Mom & Dad!!! There's nothing like watching the miracle of birth. I was blessed to be there for all three of ours miracles, and it was a tear-jerker for Dad each time.

Thank you, everybody, for your kind words and thoughts. I guess my mind is still a bit cloudy from overwork or something last night and this morning because I still had the laptop in my car - hadn't taken it out and into the house yet, but instead of just taking it back to the hospital I carefully copied all of the posts about Kieran so that I could take them and show them to Fallon. It would have been so much easier just to take her the laptop...........

The reality is finally beginning to sink in - we're parents - and all the scary things we have to look forward to. As well, all the wonderful and rewarding things! Kieran's going to play second base for the Red Sox - by then they will hopefully be out of the tank - when he grows up, despite the fact that his female relatives have other, grander ideas for his future.
We guys just gotta stick together, though.

When the nurses threw me out at end of visiting hours I wanted to take one last look at Kieran and looked into the bassinet beside Fallon's bed - he was sleeping so peacefully. The night nurse told me to appreciate the peace and quiet while it lasted - she says our son has a serious temper when he wants something, mainly food and dryness. But don't we all feel that way? I don't believe that's restricted to "old fellas" of slightly less than one day old. Anyway, I can't wait to get them home - the doctor says Tuesday morning - they just want to give Fallon a chance to catch up with herself before she hits the big time of motherhood and wifery. In the morning after I get back from work and celebrating with my co-workers we're all going to pitch in together and make sure the apartment is spic and span before the lady of the house arrives - and all cat people have to behave. I've got no idea how our herd is going to react to Kieran - but you know they're going to be watching - and seriously watched, too.

Time for me to hit the bed and get some serious night's sleep. Again, thank you all for your kind good wishes. We feel so blessed tonight! Fallon told me tonight that the two things she wants most to do afater she gets home is to wear her "skinny jeans" and be able to get behind the wheel of her volkswagon again! Good luck with both things...............

Ian and Fallon

Enjoy the journey, Ian and Fallon and Kieran Peter Lee!

Love the second middle name!

Thought you might! LOL

They come home tomorrow and we got the house all slicked up today for the special arrival. As well, I had a long talk with our four-footed housemates to let them know that baby things such as binkies, and plush toys are absolutely NOT cat toys. Nor are babies! Everyone's going to have to learn to coexist. Dad brought the family cradle up to us today and I can't wait until Fallon sees that. It has been in the family for well over 100 years and Dad said my grandfather slept in it as a baby. I'll have to take a photo of it and post it soon - it has hand carving all around the top of it and on the rockers, as well. Quite a piece!
