The Movie Avatar

My uncle and cousin went to see it and thought it was fantastic! Different strokes for different folks I guess......

A buddy of mine at work is a movie NUT. Seriously. He does the torrent thing and has movies before they come out. He has over 2,500 burned DVDs, and 2 terabyte external drives full of movies. He connects flash drives to a special box (like a Roku box) that indexes AVI files and plays them to the TV via Component or HDMI connection.

Movie. Nut.

Really!

He says this is a must see movie, and I should run out now to see it in the theater. He took his kids and they loved it as well (6 & 8 years old). He did say it was long, so be ready to go the long haul for a nearly 3 hour movie experience. But he says the movie is so engrossing, you don’t really realize you’ve been there for 3 hours.

I'll just wait for the regular $5 DVD guy to show up at my shop this week. He should have Avatar by now. I'll just watch it at home.

Well if you must ware 3D glasses I won't bother as for me that would be a waste, one eye it is impossible. Now if I could see it and enjoy it without the glasses then I would see it in a heart beat. I've talked to about 30 people so far that have seen it and not a single bad word about it all give it a glowing review. If I can see it using my own eyes I will see it in the movies if not I will buy it on Blu-Ray.

I just saw Avatar in 3D. It was, as mentioned earlier, predictable. However, the combination of the characters, graphics, and 3D was absolutely awesome. The time flew by. During the first hour I kept taking the glasses off to see the difference between 2 and 3D, but then I settled in and flat enjoyed the movie. There are very few movies that I would watch more than once ( A Christmas Carol, Apocalypse Now, Debby Does Dallas, etc. lol) and Avatar is now on the list. When that big ass tree came down I went straight to the brink of sensory overload but did not cross the line. Terrific, fun flick. :a1:

My wife and I are going New Years Day to see it. Does it look like a normal movie without the glasses or is it strictly 3D or 2D depending on the theater?

Well it is a no brainer then for me 2D it will be for sure. 3D would be a waist as I don't even see depth in real life much less a movie. :yum:

I can't stand wedging those 3d glasses between my face and my specs. I still want to see Avatar. I'll probably be stuck with the 3d version though, my girls are all excited for the 3d.

That's quite a trilogy you've got there. Can you combine them somehow?
Cratchet loves the smell of Debby in the morning ...

It looks cool but I dont really care if I see it or not.....

That said, I felt the same about the first Transformers movie..... which I fell in love with and RAN to see #2 at the theatre in IMAX.....

So, if we can we may take the kids to see it... if not, they love movies just as much at home. :)

If Buzz can't I sure can with Debby Does Dallas at Christmas singing Carols before the Apocalypse when she turns into an Avatar. :whistling:

We will be at the 12:55 showing this afternoon right around the corner from me. We will walk over and catch it and I'm sure looking forward to it.

Just got home from seeing it and all can say is I can't wait for the sequel to it next. Worth every sent of the $8 it cost my wife and I to go see it. Didn't know the first run of the day regardless of the normal price is $4 a person. I have to keep this in mind in the future as a couple of the movies they showed attractions for looked good too.

We just saw this for Percy's Birthday the other day and we both very much enjoyed it! I thought the graphics were awesome and the story line kept my interest for the whole 3 hrs :) I would definately be interested in seeing a sequel! It definately brought movie making to a whole new level in our opinions.:thumb::thumb:

This is a different kind of 3D that was developed for this movie. The 3D glasses we got were plastic frames, and fit quite well over the top of my glasses.
