Teglach
Dough Ingredients:
4 large eggs
4 tablespoons oil
1 T sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Honey syrup ingredients:
1-1/4 pounds honey
3 T sugar
1 t ginger
1 t cinnamon
1/4 cup water
1/2 lb filberts (hazelnuts), ground
1/2 pound pecans, ground
Directions:
Sift together the sugar, flour, and baking powder. Then, add the eggs and oil, to make soft dough. Roll dough into a thick rope and cut into small pieces. Roll each piece in the palm of your hand. Bake in a shallow aking dish in 375 degree oven until brown--about 10 minutes.
Heat honey, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and water until they come to a boil. Drop dough and nuts into the boiling syrup, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes and then, uncover. Simmer slowly and keep stirring until all of the honey syrup is absorbed. Then, turn the teglach out on a wet board. Form desired shape and let cool.
Enjoy!
