Tamari roasted Hazelnuts

I picked up a grocery sack full of fresh hazelnuts with the shells cracked. Yes, you have to pick through the buggers but it is worth the sacrifice. I put the nut meats (about 3-4#) in a shallow pan and set the oven to 250. they roasted about 45 minutes. I then sprinkled (first application about 2 T thereafter about 1T) them with tamari stirring to coat evenly and returned to the oven repeating the process 4X. The tamari carmelizes on the nuts nicely adding a slaty malted flavor. Allow to cool to room temp before storing.
