Surprising Broccoli Salad

TexasGirl

The Invisible
3-4 Bunches of fresh broccolli crowns, cleaned and cut to bite size
1 package of crisp bacon, crumbled (can use the already cooked)
1 small purple onion (chopped)
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

Mix all together.

Dressing:
2 cup of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
1/4 cup of white granulated sugar
mix together and pour onto the salad and mix well.

Refrigerate for about an hour.
This recipe can be multiplied many times. If too dry, you can mix a little more of the dressing.

I never leave a party, that I bring this to, with leftovers.
I get request for it all the time at family functions.

I remember eating something that sounds like this years ago, but I never had the recipe.

OK, dumb question. Do you add the stems, too? I don't remember there being any stems in the one I had years ago. And the broccoli was pretty small, too. Of course, the smaller you cut up broccoli, the more stems you get. Do you toss them in or save for cooking?

That's the same way I make mine. I've had it with the raisins and sunflower seeds but didn't really care for it. Plain and simple is what I like. I just may make this for SuperBowl Sunday. Thanks for reminding me of this.

I cut the florettes away from the stems. I just toss them, only because I have nothing else to fix with them.

Thanks. I never see the stems in salads, but it seems the more I trim, the more stems I have.
I'll save them for later :^)
