1 vidalia onion
3/4 c pimento cheese
1 1/2 lb ground beef
6 strips of bacon-chopped
1-2 jalapenos-diced small
2-3 shots Jack Daniels
Mayo
Butter
salt and pepper
---------
Quarter onion without going all the way through.
Stuff butter into cut onion, sprinkle with salt, and wrap in foil.
Place onion on grill for 30 minutes to an hour.
Mix beef, bacon, salt, pepper and Jack Daniels.

Separate meat into 6 portions, then split each one of these in half.
Place cheese on one half, then cover with another and grill.
Mix jalapenos into some mayo and spread on grilled buns.
Add some of the grilled onion on each patty before serving.

These sound interesting, Sass!

I wonder why she calls them Southern Comfort burgers when there is Jack in them?

You think the bacon is raw when mixed in with the burger?

They sound like ABT burgers!

Bump!

What do you guys think? Is the bacon raw or cooked when it's mixed with the beef?

Lee

My personal opinion is to use cooked bacon. I don't know that the bacon would cook all that well otherwise.

I have no idea Lee.
That was a recipe posted by Tessypie last year at what is now http://www.betterrecipes.com/mixing-bowl.
I thought it sounded like a good burger to try.
Barb is probably right, but wouldn't the bacon somewhat cook a little along with the ground beef?
It does say it's chopped.

I think I'll go with cooked bacon, since I like my burgers medium-rare.

This sounds SO good, Sass! I might have to go with slices of raw onion, though.

Thinking of making them this coming weekend.

Since ground beef should always be cooked well done, the bacon could actually be either way. By the way, I like mine medium too, but I also know it's a little bit risky.

Yeah, perhaps, lobo, but I'm willing to take the risk. If I couldn't have my burger medium rare, I'd just as soon not have it.

I'm not afraid of raw bacon, just don't think it would be particularly appetizing.
