Sorry I've been away so much

[Fisher's Mom]

I miss y'all like crazy! I'm essentially living here at my mom's house, with Fisher and Lori, to take care of her. She's very debilitated right now and requires a lot of care. (Hopefully she will improve soon and things will settle down.)

I've gotten so many PMs and emails and phone calls from my friends here and they mean everything to me. I promise I will answer soon. In the meantime, I wanted to share something special that happened here.

Last Sunday, my entire family came to Houston to see my mom and help celebrate her 75th birthday. My uncle, her brother, was here, too. Best of all, I met my granddaughter for the first time! Mom could only come downstairs for a short time, but she truly enjoyed having everyone here.

It the special moments and memories that you are creating that makes it all worthwhile. It is not easy being a caregiver but every time my mom tells me that she appreciates all that I have done and put up with, it makes up for a lot. One can look at the challenges and worry but don't forget to see the gifts along the path. They are what give you the strength to carrry on. I am so happy that your mom got to see the new baby (and you, too!). That baby is gorgeous and every bit as special as I predicted!!
