Posting problems

:whistling:I've been experiencing this problem for some time, now, and I'd begun to think it was my computer - but it appears that's not the case. When I post a "quick reply" message, it won't post and I get an error message telling me that my post is too short and I need to add at least four more characters. What's this all about and can it be fixed? A real nuisance and I've tried to overcome it by attempting to post the same message three and four times before it either finally goes through or I simply give up! What's going on with that?

As well, frequently when I first come online, I'll get a message that I must wait 30 seconds between postings - and I haven't posted yet! That's somehting new and annoying, too. Is NCT getting cranky?

Last but not least, when I attempt to add a smiley to the end of a post it always migrates up to the beginning - can't seem to control where it lands at all - is that just my computer doing this or what?

Ian, I'm hoping one of our beloved computer pros will chime in here, since I haven't the vaguest idea how to help you!

Hang in! Andy, Jim, or Buzz will come to the rescue. Maybe even Doc, when he feels better.

Presuming that you have tried all the easy stuff (reboot, etc) I have a couple questions.

Is there anything new in the system? Hardware, software or possibly Microsoft updates?

Do you frequently run adware spyware programs, such as, MalwareBytes. If not, would you?

Are you active on any other VB boards, if so, do they work Okay?

Are you able to try the same things on another PC?

Would you be willing to try a system restore to a day or two before this happened?

Hardware wise, I suspect your keyboard. Software wise I suspect a problem software update or malware. I just had to rip out Chrome and put it back for similar issues.

At the moment, pending more information, I do not suspect NCT.

Would any user experiencing issues described above by Ian M. Please post here. I would like to get this cleared up without involving Doc, he has a lot to deal with at the moment.

Thank you all (Y'all for those so inclined).

Andy

Hi, Andy - many of the questions you asked me are way over my head - when it comes to all things computer, I know somewhere between next-to-nothing and absolutely nothing-whatever about the beasts! But I can tell you with reasonable intelligence that we don't belong to any other VB boards, nor have we added anything to our system (other than Norton) any time recently. No software or hardware. Nor have we moved on any of the MIcrosoft updates. As far as doing a system restore - sure, I'd be willing to do it - if I knew how to. I'm not sure exactly the date this began to occur but it wasn't very long ago - like maybe a month or so ago.
Yes, I did try on the computer at our local library and got the same result - being told my post was not long enough.

I'm not sure, but I think I saw a post last night by someone who mentioned having had the system tell her that her post wasn't long enough, too, which leads me to wonder if my computer is at fault. Don't have any idea.
