This recipe has been in my family for more years than I can remember:

Here's what you'll need:
4 cups of sugar
1 can of evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter
2 cups of peanut butter
1 cup of walnuts, chopped
1 jar (7- ounces) of marshmallow creme
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Here's what you need to do:

Line a 17 x 13 x 1 jelly roll pan with waxed paper leaving about 2 inches
of waxed paper hanging over each end
(you can use a smaller pan, you'll just have thicker pieces of fudge).
Set aside.

In a large, heavy bottom dutch oven, combine the sugar,
evaporated milk and butter.

Stir constantly over medium heat.

Bring to a rolling boil, cook for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat. Add the peanut butter, marshmallow creme,
chopped nuts and vanilla.

Mix well.

Pour into prepared pan. Allow to cool for about an hour.
Lift the fudge out of the pan by lifting the waxed paper "handles"
that are hanging over the ends of the pan.
Cut into bite sized squares.

You can use whatever kind of nut you want, we've just always used walnuts...it's just one of those things that you just can't change when it's a fond childhood memory.

DW has always had trouble making any fudge. I asked her to try your recipe mama and she made it tonight. WOW :wow: Awesome.
She used your recipe to a T except for the walnuts. Mmmmmmmm good. It came out fantastic. :tiphat:

So .... do you have a recipe for chocolate fudge too Mama? DW was thinking of simply substituting two cups of coco for the two cups of peanut butter .... but can it be that simple?

Glad you liked it Doc!

I don't have a recipe for chocolate fudge but there is a recipe for "Fantasy Fudge" that is similar to my peanut butter fudge.

3 cups of sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 small can (5 oz.) evaporated milk (about 2/3 cup) (Do not use sweetened condensed milk.)
1-1/2 pkg. (12 squares) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped
1 jar (7 oz.) Marshmallow Creme
1 cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

I would use the same cooking method that I use for the peanut butter fudge but with these ingredients.

i keep looking @ that recipe/fudge- it's a weakness. i think i'll make a batch next week- the bonus being it's peanut butter & i have 4 jars of that, & there isn't karo in it- i find fudge recipes w/ karo to be too finicky
