Onion Baked Potatoes

Ran across this in an unrelated forum:

Getting even more off track I found a great way to cook potatoes on the grill. I take some layers of onions and wrap them around a potato, season and wrap in foil and put on the grill for an hour or so. Onion is gone by then but the potato is great with the added taste of onion.

Sounds pretty good.

microwave oven?

I've never been happy with the taste of baked potatoes done in a microwave.

You would have to find something else to wrap them in. The foil is metallic and there is a very good chance it would seriously damage your microwave.

I would try wrapping them in something that won't melt or catch fire at high temperatures. Maybe saran wrap??

In a high power microwave probably about 10 minutes for one and a couple of more minutes for 2. A lower power unit could take 15 minutes or more. You would test them same as in a conventional oven. If a fork slips in easily it is done.
