Old Fashioned Cream Cake - Massachusetts

From "The NY Times New England Heritage Cookbook"

(Looks simple enough!)

1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
1 cup heavy cream
1 teas vanilla

Preheat oven to 400.

Beat the sugar and eggs together until very thick and pale. Fold in flour alternately with the cream. Stir in vanilla.

Pour into a greased and floured nine-inch tube pan and bake 15 minutes. Reduce heat to300 and bake thirty minutes longer or until done.
