Mysterious Underwater Pyramid

Deadly Sushi

Formerly The Giant Mojito
A mysterious undersea pyramid structure off the coast of Japan causes controversy - is this a natural geological phenomena or a man-made structure which changes the history books as we know them?

In 1986, a diver near the island of Yonaguni Jima, off the southern tip of Japan (around Okinawa) came across some strange structures about 25 metres below sea level.
They appeared to be stepped structures with terracesand ramps.

One of the largest pyramid structures is 600 feet wide and 90 feet high –with five separate levels of stone blocks with what appears to be road surrounding the structure.

I saw a show on this on one of the several science/history channels a while back. It was pretty interesting stuff.

Whoaaaaaaaaaaa! This is right up my alley, interest-wise!

Thanks, Sush!

I saw the same show awhile back, there were good arguments on both sides as to whether or not it was man made.
One of the best explanations, I thought, was something similar to what happened off the coast of England. The area sank down a bit over time, and then became bowl shaped which then caused it to fill with water. Eventually the sides erode away and you are just left with the bottom of the bowl.
They are still excavating village sites of the coast of England.

I've seen this on several shows that's near and dear to my heart, If I wasn't petrified of water I would love to go diving and learn to dive so I could see this pyramid my self.

By the way it's not jaws that made me petrified of water.

I've seen the same shows. Did any of you all see the clip about the "face" that was carved into one of the corners?

DS, many archaeologists are theorizing that this was "built" during the Ice Age, and when the ice receeded and the sea level rose, inundated the site.

Looking at the SHAPES of these structures I don't see how they could be anything but man-made. I know we like to think we are the most advanced civilization now but...look at how many years BEFORE us the Romans had central heating...look at the logistics involved in building things like the pyramids!

This is right up my open-minded street to be checking online, Sushi, ty VERY much for this post coz I missed this one. :flowers:

Definitely man-made. Lines are too hard and defined. Probably slide off under the water due to tectonic shift. Very interesting.

Makes you wonder about Panagea, Gondwana, and all that shifting huh?
