My first BBQ of the year

I had my first BBQ of the year this weekend. I made BBQ Black Eyed Pea Burgers, Grilled Sweet Lime Potato Wedges and Kale & Mushrooms. This is my second batch of these burgers and they're one of my favorites--and they don't dry out on the barbeque.

Incidentally, it takes at least two beers to heat the briquettes, but only one beer to cook the burgers.

Looks fabulous!!!!!

Excuse my ignorance and desire to ogle your pics…….but…….

HOLY CARP! That was a veggie burger? I just now caught that? You’re kidding? Bravo!!! Wow!

I’m a carnivore at heart, but I will be trying this recipe. Thanks a million!

I ate a burger with extra BBQ sauce on a bun with mayo, pickles and sweet onions. It reminded me a bit of a McRib, only in a good way. The black eyed peas added a great texture. Not a 'meat' texture, but good. The kale & mushrooms was great too, but it's kinda hard to screw up fresh kale.

 at the company blocking flickr at work. Why not upload the picks straight to the blog page? It will make the blog more visually appealing and increase your hits....Trust me on this. I mean I have the exact same template (at least for now).

They block flickr? That's the first time I've heard of someone doing that. I wonder how widespread that is. Thanks. Your blog looks great, btw. I like the header a lot.

Couple of weeks ago they blocked all photo sharing sites (flickr, image shack, photobucket, etc.) as well as youtube and google image search. It's not a big deal to me. The only time I use those things I'm screwing around at work

As for the header, I can hook you up with the guys that did it. They work for the cheap!!! I sent them a $25 donation and they took the water mark off. They also did a logo for a T-shirt for another donation. Lemme know if you want the address....

I want to do a major rework of my site. But it's gotta wait for me to finish up some other work, kind-of the carrot that keeps me from procrastinating. The link would be great for future reference, though.

It's a site where they do mainly fantasy football designs (banners and helmets) but they did a couple non football logos for me....Look for the section about "all other requests"

Wow, thanks for chatting guys. I missed this thread yesterday.

Great pics and great looking food, V. Really tasty looking.
And thanks for the time reference ;^)

Hey, thanks. I've got it bookmarked. Reminded me of my one foray into fantasy football. I was the Mauna Loa SpamHammers. Too bad I lost touch with the guy that did this. He was a lot of fun.

This is enough to make me go veggie! Thanks for the Black Eyed Pea Burger recipe because I have a daughter who is a vegetarian and I seem to serve her the same old things every time she visits. This should be quite a treat for her!

Sounds great -- except the kale, which makes my diverticulitis act up for some reason.

One question: what the heck is "vital wheat gluten"? Sounds like something General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden in Dr. Strangelove) would have eaten.

Vital wheat gluten is the protein stripped from the grain. It's a fine flour and is available in most bulk sections I've seen. It keeps veggie burgers from being mush burgers.
