You know how long it's been since I've had one of these????

One of these days ................

Thanks, Lucky!

I always add some homemade vanilla extract for a burst of vanilla flavor. Call me crazy... you won't be the first. :yum: As kids on the farm we would also put in a fresh egg.

Yeah, Joe; we did the same !
When we moved to town, it didn't take long until I had the local parlor putting
Shake...... $.39
with egg...... $. 44

right on the selection board !

Lou Reed wrote a song about egg cream. Selzer water and egg all shaken up or something like that ... never sounded good to me. Has any of you ever tried one of those. I'm still hankering for a shake like LT posted. :thumb:

They are an NYC ( Brooklyn) Staple......

I've got a recipe in my classy clones collection....... BRB

The Original Brooklyn Egg-Cream

  • Take a tall, chilled, straight-sided, 8oz. glass
  • Spoon 1 inch of U-bet Chocolate syrup into glass
  • Add 1 inch whole milk
  • Tilt the glass and spray seltzer (from a pressurized cylinder only) off a spoon, to make a big chocolate head
  • Stir, Drink, Enjoy

Thanks LT. Lou is a NYNY guy so I thought it was a NY thing. No egg in egg cream. :pat: :yum:

We LOVE Egg Creams. We go to Harold's New York Deli in Lyndhurst or Parsipanny and get them in tall frosty glass mugs with handles. (You can also buy the Fox's U-Bet there. I get the Fox's at Shop-Rite.) They also have Doctor Brown's Sodas. Mom used to LOVE Doctor Brown's celery soda.
