I bought my burner, and other cooking utensils to build my outdoor propane portable wok yesterday. I have to make a disk in mounted to my stand. I will take pictures and keep you posted on the progress.

I thought this You Tube clip on wok curing process was interesting.

I went to get a round steel plate to mount the burner to the table stand drilled and tapped the holes for the screws painted it black and assembled all the parts. These do not come as a kit . There's a picture of the burner in the box all the other parts and accessories cooking tools are purchased individually. I got it all together but I have not fired it off. I'm going to do that tomorrow. I too tired to mess with it now. This burner is rated at 97,000 BTU it should get pretty darn hot. I bought two woks 17 and 18 inches.

I want one too! I can't wait to see what you cook on that.

Yes, I am looking forward to learning some new cooking techniques with this wok. I have been trying to eat more greens/vegetables. And then I have to go to the restaurant supply in stock up on some Oriental sauces. Some of the super burners that I looked at you can also use the heat very large stock pots. I'm not sure how a aluminum pan would react over this kind of heat, it might be too intense for aluminum I'm not sure. But anyway I think it's going to be fun to use outdoors. One advantage being not heating the house up in the summer and keeping the cooking mess outside. I think there are a couple of members here that make some fantastic looking Asian meals. I can't remember who these numbers are can anybody help me out with their screen names so I can look there posts up the search feature.

Thank you Cooksey and chocolate mousse.

You made me go pull out my cookbook. I was thinking that bamboo brush was for swirling oil in the work, but now I see that it is for washing the wok.

You might enjoy reading Grace Young's Breath of a Wok.

Thanks Cooksie I have added that to my Amazon wish list. When I was walking around the store I saw the bamboo brush with the ladles and the turner utensils it was just lying in of out-of-the-way place so I put it in my floor cart. And when I brought it up to the the register I asked him how much it was. I had no idea what they cost. She told me four dollars I said sold LOL the wire skimmer or sometimes called a spider was only $3.58 some of the stuff in the store is incredibly inexpensive. The store also has a very wide selection of dinnerware/plates all different sizes and shapes. Lots of them..
I sure would like to have time to use it this weekend but I have house guests coming in Friday and I'm going to clean the back yard and pool and go shopping. Lots of stuff to do before they arrive. I will keep this post up-to-date along with the Asian dishes that I try.I think I want to start out simple like a beef and broccoli then a chicken stirfry and then experiment with pork. Darn, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it

Very cool! That should be great fun indeed.
Find yourself an Asian market nearby and get some goodies.. you will LOVE the prices.
