
Listeria Outbreak From Trader Joe’s, Walmart Meals Leaves 4 Dead
Consumers are urged to throw away or return recalled items and to thoroughly clean containers and refrigerators.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that a listeria outbreak tied to recalled frozen meals sold at Trader Joe’s and Walmart has resulted in four deaths and 19 hospitalizations.
One of the products cited in the alert is the Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs and Marinara Sauce with “best if used by” dates of Sept. 22, 24, 25, 29, 30, and Oct. 1. Sold at Walmart, the items bear the establishment numbers 47718 or 50784.
The second item is Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo with “best if used by” dates of Sept. 20, 24, and 27, and establishment number P-45288.
Federal officials say the contaminated pasta products were made by Nate’s Fine Foods.
