What a week it's been! Actually, what a month! Lou and I went to San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma early in the month and came back to some slow days here at the restaurant. The heat is a killer, but it's been raining like crazy for weeks, too.
Then, Isaac hits an already drenched area. The Quarter and the CBD were fine. Uptown, where we live...another story. Garden District, Treme, Marigny, Bywater, Uptown...down oaks everywhere, branches, street flooding and no power. Nothing. It finally got repaired last night, 9pm. We were plannign to sleep in the restaurant last night, too.

It's been nasty, but I'm glad it's over. We're trying to focus on September right now, and get ready to start doing some dinner service on Thursday and Friday night.

I miss posting....I miss cooking at home, too.

Glad to hear you're OK, Vera.

Some of those Oaks are hundreds of years old. To think of trees down....not a good thing.

I wonder how many gators got transplanted by all the flooding?

Good to hear from you, VB!

We miss you, too!

Glad you and Lou and Red Gravy are all okay!

Keep the focus, Vera!
Onward and upward, this too shall pass.
I miss your dinner pics and your posts.
Smooch!!

We finally managed to 'make groceries' (as they say down here in New Orleans) again. The storm was last Wednesday, but we were back to work on Thursday and without power till late Saturday evening. By then, we'd tossed everything that was in the fridge that hadn't been brought to the restaurant.
Monday afternoon is a great time for Lou and I because we're off on Tuesday, our only day closed. Spent over an hour in the market, it was packed adn most ofthe shelves were still pretty barren. Then, home to clean the fridge and freezer. Had some beautiful gulf shrimp with paddy cocktails last night.
Today, our day off....??? spent in the yards raking, cutting, raking and bagging all the mess.
Still lots of folks without power down here, a week later. It's been in the 90s every day. The French Quarter looks as though nothing ever happened. Lots of other areas, like Uptown, the Garden District, RiverBend are all still cutting up trees, branches and limbs.
Thanks for the well wishes, we're just about fine, again.
