Fresca Italia Inc., based in Brisbane, Calif., is recalling about 36 pounds of pork products produced in Italy that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. Without the benefit of full inspection, a possibility of adverse health consequences exists.
The prosciutto items were produced on April 30, 2015. The products subject to recall are 3-oz. sealed trays of “MAESTRI AUTHENTIC ITALIAN SALUMI prosciutto italiano”; 3-oz. sealed trays of “Prosciutto di San Daniele”; and 3-oz. sealed trays of “MAESTRI AUTHENTIC ITALIAN SALUMI speck.”
The products subject to recall bear the establishment number “CEIT 649L” inside the Italian mark of inspection. These products were shipped to retail locations throughout the San Francisco (Bay Area), Calif.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities of imported products conducted by the Recall Management and Technical Analysis Staff (RMTAS). FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
