Who here uses one to cook with?
I'm convinced that I need one, but the most commonly known one here in Canada is the BGE (big green egg).
The problem is though, we get raped up here on price. The distributor controls the price and they will not budge.

I see there are other options out there.

My question's are as follows.
1. What kind do you own?
2. What do you like about it?
3. What don't you like about it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lethal,

I asked my friend, Ray Lampe (AKA Dr. BBQ) who is the spokesperson for the Big Green Egg, how he would answer this question.

Here's what he said:

The Big Green Egg is the leader in the industry by far so while some of the knock-offs cook the same the longevity is unproven for both their cookers and their company. It's a big investment that should last you a lifetime.... as long as the company is there to provide any warranty claims that may occur.

As for cooking there really is nothing that works as well for daily grilling, extreme grilling (read HOT!!), smoking, baking, and wood fired pizza cooking. If you love to cook different things using different methods you will easily get your money's worth.

Also, take a look at Ross in Ventura's wonderful posts about his cooks on the BGE.

Also, here is the link to my post where I attended a Big Green Egg fest.

Thanks Lee,
I'm hoping to make a trip across the border to buy a BGE soon.
You wouldn't believe the price difference between Canada and the US.
