Kalama River Float

Jeff and I went with guide, Mark, yesterday and floated the Kalama for steelhead and a chance at a coho. I got the one steelhead and missed on another bite. It was a foggy damp cold and had the shivers a lot. Mark said this was the nicest steelhead of the year.

Went fishing for steelhead yesterday, I got one on third cast, was one hell of a good fight and the best I’ve had. We had to release it as it was a wild fish not hatchery. We only did a half float but fished the best two spots. Sadly we never caught another fish. Jeff had one on but it broke the line, a rare occurrence, and was a big fish. Mine was an bout 10 pounds.

Well, got skunked - never a bite for me. Jeff had a big one on to 25 feet from boat, rod tip to low, fish saw the boat and dived - lost fish. It should have been a gimme. He gave me 4 nice pieces of the fish he caught last week.

I should take more scenery pictures and rougher rapids but don’t think of it in time and distracts from fishing.
