It's happening Mama!!!

I was in the mood for some wings tonight and just picked up a bag at the town grocer. Tyson frozen. $6.99 for..... nope, not 3 lbs.... 40 oz :eek2:
For those who don't have a calculator handy or our mathematically challenged , that's half a lb shy of the normal sized bag of frozen wings. No wonder the price seemed just a tad low. They've started to downsize the bags of wings now.
And we were just discussing in a dinner thread (I think) about how the reduced poultry production this year was going to cause a shortage of wings and drive the price up.
Sure, I bought them, but this sucks.

So I want all you folks out there who don't need chicken wings like some of us do... keep the rest of us in mind the next time you order 16 and don't finish 3 of them. :tiphat:

Bummer Chow! Like I said before, though, I pretty confident they will come down around Super Bowl Time and when they do, you'd better do some stocking up.

Have you found the Turkey Wings yet?

You tell that ol hound to leave some for me, Jeeks. Or I'll sneak some pepper oil into her water bowl ;^)

I haven't looked for them yet, Mama. Not until I go to a real store. I won't buy poultry at my local store that isn't frozen. And we'll see about them coming down. I hope you're right.

GE wings are too little, Barb. I like Tyson or Perdue. They usually still have pin feathers, too. I just never had good luck with the GE stamp on them.

Holy moly, we can't do without our chicken wings. I haven't noticed a shortage of chicken wings yet. I tell you what I have noticed. No free turkeys this year. Always in the past, you could spend $$$$ (don't remember how much) and get a free turkey. I usually got two free ones per year and just kept them for smoking. I did have a $5 off coupon, but hey that's not two free turkeys  .

You're right, Cooksie! I didn't see any free turkeys here either. The best deal I saw was if you spent over $10 at HEB, you could get a frozen turkey for $.49/lb.

I got my turkey for $.40/lb. It was supposed to be for the GE ones but they didn't have any big enough (24lb.) so they gave me a Honeysuckle ($.69/lb.) for the same price. So for under $10 I got my turkey!!

They don't do the free turkeys here anymore either, but they are price matching.

I think there was still one grocery store here still doing it (Ingles), but you had to spend something like $300 to earn 6 points and then spend another $50 minimum when you redeemed your points for the "free" turkey.

Such a deal!!!
