Internet Radio Stations...

Have you tried Pandora? Not a radio station but really good and fun to listen to :) :) :)

Nope. I watched a friend of mine use it once, and it started belching out Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. I threw up in my mouth a little bit, told him to wear headphones, and never looked at it again...

You can set it to listen to "your" type of music. I listen to a lot of John Denver and Toby Keith. They have almost everything. You should try it.

I'm sure it has good stuff, but I listen to internet radio to get away from mainstream music. I'm always looking for the deeper cuts that you won't find on corporately run stations.

I have Pandora on and nothing else; What Lilylove, etc. said !
I get Hank, Patsy, Merle, George, et. al. and nothing else.........and on the rare occasion that it chooses somebody I DON'T want to hear, I hit the "Thimbs Down" icon, and that artist never pops up again......

Then there's Wolfgang's Vault for recorded concerts, which you choose by artist....not too shabby........

Ahh Merle! I always play Okie From Muskogee at the bar because, well, because I'm an Okie from near Muskogee!

That and it's a great song!

I don't listen to my internet radio since my TV tuner (in computer) has one built in so I can listen to the local country station which is pretty good here. Now the only problem with that though is the TV is running most of the time while I'm on line so I don't listen to the radio that much.

Merle's got a mile of great ones............
Did you know....
He was in the audience when Johnny Cash performed (and recorded live) at San Quenton.........He was doing time for car theft.......

So I tried using the Pandora radio out. The default bandwidth is way too low, can you change that?

Sorry, I just had to flip that out there.

I'm not really into internet radio. I prefer "over the air" radio, for one good reason:

STORM WARNINGS! Living in OK, getting a storm warning over my car radio while out-and-about is a good thing.

LOL! In Wisconsin when you hear sirens it means turn on the TV. In Tulsa when you hear sirens it means DUCK!

In the car I generally listen to NPR and the Ed Schultz show...

I haven't visited internet radio in a while, thanks to Y'all I feel that I am about to.

Would you mind some questions? Are the channels mentioned pay or free? Has anyone looked into whether any of these channels "phone home" regarding your other surfing habits

Both the stations I listed are free and commercial/ad free user supported stations. I use the Winamp player for all my internet radio, so it's totally separate from your web browser. If you go HERE you can download the player and get a whole host of stations spanning every genre and around the globe.

The problem I had with pandora is that it made my Dolby 5.1 speakers sound like I was playing a transistor radio. I'm not sure if was even in stereo...

I'm sorry Rob.... I'm not too picky about music so it works just fine for me.

Hubby uses it though and he's the most picky person I know...

I wish it had worked for you!!!!

Me too! I was getting into the whole thumbs up and down thing, but the sound quality was terrible. That's usually an issue with bandwidth, and I suspect that they are running at a low bandwidth since higher quality = more cost!
