Infrared Grills

I've been grilling on a Char-broil gas grill for 10 years that I've been very happy with. It's taken me some time to get used to it. Has it's hot and cold spots, and it can be tough to control temperature, but I've cooked some wicked good meat on it.

It's now reached the point where the grates and burner are going to have to be replaced, it's tough to keep clean and I'm considering replacing it. I've been looking at grills on the web and I'm seeing a lot about infrared grills and of course it sounds good when the sales people are talking about it. That it cooks faster and doesn't dry out the meat. Does anyone here have one. Not one with the little infrared piece in the back, but will a full infrared. Char-Broil has a couple of models under $500 that look great, but I want to be sure I can get good wood smoke flavor with it. Can I use wood chips in it? I do a lot of low and slow ribs putting wood chips into a metal box that goes over the burner. Will that still work? Looking for good reviews.
