oHHH NOOOOOOO!
I 'fried' my laptop last night while I was drinking a cup of water.
The water was in one of those 'solo' red cups and, me having carpel tunnel--it was not a good idea; besides I had a glass of wine earlier and not much to eat....
My laptop, a Macbook pro (2 years old) was open, on and in my lap. I reached over to get the cup and I dropped it on my laptop!!! GASP!!!!!!!!! :bonk::bonk::shitHitsFan::bangin:
Well, needless to say, it stopped working!!
I went to the apple store, with the intention of replacing it,...boo hooo.....:(
Went to the Genius counter, and they checked out the serial number--and
good and bad news!

bad--is it would cost me $700 to fix

good----I still have it covered under the applecare protection plan...
:dizzy: it will cost me nothing!!!!!!! I hope...

If this works out, then it will be $100 bucks for $700 bucks worth of work------
hummmm, sounds too good to be true.....
will let you know in a week, when they call me.........

I am now on my ---big comp, iMac, the laptop is my 'toy"..
now I really do need to get time machine going, as a back up.....

I will try not to count on this working out, cuz it sounds too good to be tru....anyone else have an experience like this with apple?

Wow! That's wonderful cyn that it's not going to cost anything! I haven't done that (knock on wood) and hopefully won't. Sure am glad that you had that coverage.

I had carpal tunnel a few years back so I know what you mean about dropping things. I had the surgery so I'm doing much better now.

I hope that you gt it fixed and that it is under warranty.

I have had a MAC for over a year and not used it a lot. I just recently installed parallels on it and I am running MAC / Windows / Linux all on the same machine. It will not be my one and only, (I have six or seven machines). I do like it a lot more. For two weeks all I used was the MAC, I am now much more comfortable with it.

My son 'had' a apple . he paid over $4k for the set up. I swear that screen was so big I could go outside across the street & still see the screen. Had it for a couple yrs. Poof out it went. Noda nothing. Couldn't get it repaired without taking a second morgage . He had to use his cell for along time to get internet & go to the library. Doubt he bought another one.

I don't even use mine at all. I don't like a laptop. I did spill on it several time's too. Nothing happened. Good ole cheap (well not cheap to me lol) $900. HP.

CT here to. I had the release done. almost good as new, cept I can't open jars or cut up a chicken ..

Hope you have good luck..

I have an Imac that was acting up and we took it to the Apple store. I was still under the original warranty and they fixed it for free. They replaced the screen and hard drive, a 600 dollar repair job and all I paid was for the tank of gas it took to go pick it up. I guess I should take out the extended warranty now. I have another month to do that. Time machine restored all the programs, files, passwords, everything in 15 minutes.
