Hurricane Irene

I keep a close watch on the hurricane sites this time of year, but usually stick to the eastern Pacific. Over on the Atlantic side, it looks like a fair number of our members might be affected by Hurricane Irene. Hope you are all getting battened down, and that no serious consequences occur. Take care, amigos...

We seem to be at the tail end so maybe more wind and rain. We have been getting record rain for the last week or so up in the NY/NJ/PA area. We may float away.

we are still in Watch & Preparation mode. They are saying it has moved slightly east of us .Thats what it did with HUGO & then at the last, it moved west & bam we where hit with a cat5.

No sigh of relief for us yet.

We're back in Dearborn now. But all last week, we in Nassau, down in the Bahamas. Rode out the Cat 3 at the resort right on the beach. They kept us safe and we actually had a lot of fun with it.

Been watching News 12 and parts of New Jersey is in bad shape. Down the shore is not doing so good. The Belmar beaches are on the roads a lot of damage just before the holiday. The shore towns are really going to be hit hard this holiday. People are stuck in a Holiday Inn on Rt 46 in Parsippany by Harold's and LongHorn, the whole first floor is under water. 60 People have been stranded there since saturday night with no power, food or water/plumbing. Lots of flooding still. Rt 17 closed by Hasbrouck Heights due to flooding. Still lots of people without water or power. A house blew up in Pompton Plains (or Lakes not sure) due to gas leak. I think we have had 3-4 deaths due to Irene in New Jersey.

I must say we were VERY LUCKY to ONLY have our road flood and nothing very serious here in my neighborhood. We will be going out later so I will try to remember to take the camera.
