Cute!

Heres another green food for fun....

Lily Pad Pancakes

8 oz (1½ cups) frozen petite green peas, thawed
2 tbsp water
1 egg
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
¼ tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp baking powder
Vegetable oil, as needed
Butter or plain yogurt, for serving
Set aside 1/3 cup of peas.
Add the remaining peas to a blender with the water and egg; purée until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a medium bowl and stir in the flour, salt, and baking powder and gradually mix with a fork or whisk.
Stir in the reserved 1/3 cup peas.

Let the batter rest for 10 minutes while you clean up.
Place about 2 tablespoons of oil in a sauté pan, warm over medium heat until shimmering, and drop 1 tablespoon of batter in the pan. Gently cook for about 3 minutes, until you see bubbles forming around the edges. Flip and cook on the second side until very lightly browned. Continue until all the batter is gone.
Serve warm with butter or plain yogurt.

That is another brilliant Deelady recipe!! LOL!

Copied and saved!

I would serve that as a different and interesting dinner side dish with ..... I don't know .. maybe some garlic sausages, or a grilled ham steak.

Very cool, Dee!

I had a couple of deviled eggs today and the whites were dyed green. It was at a party and the maker was unidentified so I didn't find out what they used to color them.

Thanks Lee! But I have never made them...YET!! I bet they would go perfect with a Ham steak...like a deconstucted split pea soup!

I actually just bought the ingredients the other day to make a pistacio poundcake :) Will wait till hubby comes home though....otherwise I'd eat it all!!!

Green food, green beer, green everything is cute, but IMO it's dumb to celebrate it that way food-wise.

Last year we had a carry-in thing at work.
I thought it was going to be traditional or not so trad Irish/American fare.
Turns out we had GREEN (hot chicken) sandwiches, GREEN baked beans.. GREEN cake, GREEN rice krispie treats.

If memory serves, I turned green eating most of that stuff.. lol
